On May 18, UNIST AI Graduate School signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Naval Education and Training Command for the strengthening of education and research capacity in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). In the memorandum of understanding, the two organizations have pledged cooperation for advancing education in AI, nurturing AI talents, strengthening research and capacity-building in AI.

Under this partnership, UNIST AI Graduate School will be providing consulting services for curriculum development and building an educational environment for training instructors dedicated to intelligence informatization to help prepare AI education conditions for the Navy. Additionally, the school will provide guest lectures and practical training programs for intelligence informatization specialists on the fundamental AI concepts.

To this end, the Naval Education and Training Command will also work together in the future to provide consultancy services on UNIST’s soon-to-be-established Maritime AI Research Center (tentative name). In addition to this, both organizations have promised to reinforce their cooperation, such as the offering of commissioned education to foster AI talents in the maritime field.

Took place in the headquater of Naval Education and Training Command, the signing ceremony has been attended by Commander DongHoon Kang (Naval Education and Training Command), Principal Yoon Chang Jang of Information Communication School within Naval Education and Training Command, Director General JaeDong Kim of Information Planning at Navy Headquarters, and Dean Sam H. Noh of UNIST AI Graduate School.
